I have to admit that my idea came a little bit from my neurotic need to have the perfect birthday party for my daughter, which in my holistic world means an organic, very low- to no-sugar homemade birthday cake. An elegant looking table where the dishes and silverware I love and adore from my wedding registry were seen, used and enjoyed by all. And the third reason was to keep the costs down.
